DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ducati's Hyperstrada 939 is the touring twin of the Hypermotard 939: the same slim chassis and Testastretta engine, fitted with side cases, a taller screen and a more comfortable seat. The cases change more than the bike's range. Every morning and every evening of a trip they go on and come off again, and each time the rider tugs at a loaded motorcycle that is standing on nothing more than its side stand. Accossato lists the TP067 for the Hyperstrada 939 of 2016 and 2017: a pair of aluminium crash pads with coloured inserts.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Ducati Hyperstrada 939, 2016 to 2017
- Accossato TP067, two pads per pack
- Body CNC-machined from aluminium
- Anodised insert in one of six colours
- Screw cover to match, if you want one
- Some fairings must be drilled: check with us before ordering
- No German ABE on record; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The body of each TP067 pad is cut from aluminium on CNC machines, and the insert set into it is anodised in colour: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold. You decide whether the fixing stays visible or disappears under a screw cover, which Accossato makes in the same colour as the insert. Two pads come in the pack. When the Hyperstrada 939 tips over, they are meant to reach the ground before its frame and bodywork do, and that can reduce the scratches and dents a fall leaves behind. They will not keep every mark away, and a pad that has taken a heavy hit is due for replacement.
Cases On, Cases Off
On a trip, the side cases are handled more often than any other part of the Hyperstrada 939, and nearly always while the bike stands on its side stand. That is when things tend to go wrong. Heaving a full case onto its mount, or wrestling with one that sticks, rocks the bike on its stand, and on soft or sloping ground a rocked stand can sink or slip. Tugging upwards at a case on the left lifts the low side of the bike, and a strong pull can raise it off the stand and past its balance point towards the other side. A little order removes most of the risk. Park on level, firm ground with the bars turned towards the stand and a gear engaged. Lighten a heavy case before you take it off, and when you refit the cases, let a companion hold the bike upright if there is one. Keep the heaviest items low in the luggage, and check that each case has locked into place before you ride, since a case working loose on the motorway is a far bigger problem than a scuffed pad.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Hyperstrada 939, Accossato gives the TP067 with the years 2016 and 2017, and we have linked it accordingly. According to Accossato, crash pads can only be mounted on some motorcycles once the fairing has been drilled, and its list does not name those bikes, so please ask us before ordering whether this applies to your Hyperstrada 939. For this model, the TP067 is the only protection part on Accossato's list. The same pads are catalogued in our shop for the Hypermotard 821 and the Hypermotard 939. After fitting, steer from lock to lock and make sure the pads are clear of everything around them.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE or test document for the TP067 that we could show you, and so we offer the pads for competition and track use.
