Einen Cruiser fährt man mit aufrechtem Rücken und nach vorn zu einem breiten Lenker gestreckten Armen, und diese entspannte Haltung ist ein großer Teil dessen, warum sich Menschen für eine California 1400 Custom entscheiden. Sie bedeutet aber auch, dass die Hände ihre Arbeit am Ende ausgestreckter Arme verrichten. Der Accossato ESC023 ist ein Kupplungshebel für die California Custom ABS 1400 von 2014 bis 2020. Er passt an die Kupplungsaufnahme, mit der das Motorrad das Werk verlassen hat, ist aus Aluminium gefräst, und ein Einsteller nahe am Drehpunkt legt seinen Abstand zum Griff fest. So kann der Hebel Ihre Finger erreichen, ohne dass sich der Arm noch weiter strecken muss.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
CNC-Maschinen formen den ESC023 aus einem einzigen Stück Aluminium. Danach färbt das Eloxieren die Oberfläche: die Nabe mit Drehpunkt und Griffweiten-Einsteller immer schwarz, das Blatt in einer von sieben Farben. Eloxiertes Aluminium behält seine Oberfläche über Jahre mit Wetter und Putzen besser als eine lackierte, weil die Farbe in der Oxidschicht sitzt und nicht darauf. Blatt und Nabe bilden ein starres Teil, ohne Klappgelenk.
Griffweite aus entspannter Cruiser-Sitzposition
Mit gestreckten Armen haben die Finger weniger Kraft und weniger Präzision als mit gebeugten Ellbogen. An der California Custom zeigt sich das am stärksten an der Kupplung, die in der Stadt und an jeder Kreuzung ständig gebraucht wird. Sitzt der Hebel weit vom Griff entfernt, beginnt jeder Zug mit weit geöffneter Hand am Ende eines gestreckten Arms, und nach einer Stunde meldet sich der Unterarm. Holen Sie den ESC023 näher an den Griff, bedienen Sie die Kupplung mit teilweise geschlossenen Fingern, und dort sind sie am kräftigsten. Setzen Sie sich so auf das Motorrad wie auf der Straße, weder nach vorn noch nach hinten gelehnt, und stellen Sie die Griffweite ein, bis der Hebel unter Ihren Fingerspitzen ankommt, ohne dass Sie sich zu ihm hinbeugen. Fahrer mit kleineren Händen holen ihn womöglich noch weiter heran. Für einen leichteren Zug setzt das lange Blatt, angeboten in Blau, Gold, Grün und Orange, die Finger weiter vom Drehpunkt entfernt an und erhöht ihre Hebelwirkung.
Passform und Kompatibilität
Der Katalog von Accossato zeigt den ESC023 für die California 1400 Custom von 2014 bis 2020, und der Hebel ersetzt das Original an der Kupplungsaufnahme der Custom. Der Bremshebel EDF023 trägt dieselben Modelljahre, falls die Bedienelemente zusammenpassen sollen. Nur die Standardlänge von rund 138 mm wird in Schwarz und Rot gefertigt, Silber gibt es zusätzlich mit kurzem Blatt.
Straßenzulassung
Für den ESC023 ist keine deutsche ABE dokumentiert. Er wird deshalb für den Einsatz auf der Rennstrecke verkauft.
