Auf einem langen, niedrigen Cruiser wie der Triumph Speedmaster gewöhnt man sich leicht an, überwiegend mit der Hinterradbremse zu verzögern. Dabei leistet die Vorderradbremse an jedem Motorrad den größeren Teil der Bremsarbeit, weil das Bremsen Gewicht auf den Vorderreifen verlagert. Sie mit Vertrauen zu nutzen, beginnt mit einem Hebel, den Sie leicht erreichen und dosieren können. Für die Speedmaster von 2006 bis 2016 fertigt Accossato den EDF014, einen gefrästen Aluminium-Bremshebel für den originalen Bremszylinder, dessen Griffweite Sie näher an den Griff holen können.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Accossatos Zuhause ist heute Villastellone bei Turin, wo das Werk des Unternehmens sowohl CNC-Bearbeitung als auch Schmiedepressen hat. Der EDF014 ist ein gefrästes Teil: Aluminium, auf CNC-Anlagen in Form gebracht und dann eloxiert, mit einer schwarzen Nabe, die Drehpunkt und Einsteller trägt, und einem Blatt in Silber, Schwarz, Gold, Rot, Blau, Grün oder Orange. Er ist von einem Ende zum anderen starr, ohne Klappgelenk. Ob er neben Chrom, poliertem Leichtmetall oder schwarzem Lack sitzt, die Eloxaloberfläche behält ihre Farbe, ohne an den Kanten abzublättern.
Vertrauen in die Vorderradbremse
Wenn ein Motorrad bremst, verlagert sich sein Gewicht nach vorn. Der Vorderreifen wird stärker auf die Straße gedrückt und kann mehr Bremskraft übertragen, während das Heck leichter wird und das Hinterrad schneller blockiert. Das gilt für die Speedmaster genauso wie für ein Sportmotorrad, auch wenn eine niedrige Sitzbank und ein langer Radstand das Nicken nach vorn ruhiger machen. Wer sich überwiegend auf die Hinterradbremse verlässt, lässt deshalb einen großen Teil der verfügbaren Bremsleistung ungenutzt, und im Notfall bemisst sich dieser Unterschied in Metern. Die Gewöhnung an die Vorderradbremse beginnt mit der Griffweite. Sitzt der Hebel zu weit weg, meidet man ihn ganz natürlich, holen Sie den EDF014 also näher heran, bis Ihre Finger ihn umschließen können, ohne sich zu strecken. Üben Sie dann auf einer ruhigen, trockenen Straße: sanftes, progressives Ziehen am vorderen Hebel zusammen mit dem hinteren Bremspedal, zuerst aus Schritttempo und nach und nach aus höheren Geschwindigkeiten, bis der Einsatz beider Bremsen automatisch abläuft. An der Speedmaster passt das lange Blatt gut dazu, weil vier Finger die Kraft verteilen und sich der Zug leichter kontrollieren lässt.
Passform und Kompatibilität
Accossato führt den EDF014 für die Speedmaster von 2006 bis 2016 unter dem Namen Speedmaster 900, und er passt anstelle des Serienhebels an den originalen Bremszylinder. Der Kupplungshebel für dieselben Jahre ist der EST333, sodass sich beide Seiten des Speedmaster-Lenkers gleich ausführen lassen.
Straßenzulassung
Eine deutsche ABE ist nicht dokumentiert; der EDF014 wird deshalb für den Einsatz auf der Rennstrecke verkauft.
