KTM baut seine Naked Bikes der Duke-Reihe als Leiter aus Größen, und viele Fahrer steigen sie Sprosse für Sprosse hinauf, von einer 125er oder 390er zu einer 690er oder 790er und schließlich zur 1290 Super Duke R an der Spitze. Jede Stufe bringt mehr Motor, aber auch die Bremsen wachsen: Die Super Duke R bremst mit zwei großen Scheiben vorn, wo die kleinen Dukes mit einer auskommen. An der Super Duke R von 2014 bis 2023 lässt Sie der EDF099 von Accossato das Blatt genau dort platzieren, wo Ihre Finger sind, und er kommt in drei Längen.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Computergesteuertes Fräsen macht aus Aluminium einen EDF099, dessen Form von Stück zu Stück nicht abweicht. Das fertige Teil wird eloxiert, schwarz an der Nabe, wo sich der Hebel dreht und seine Ruheposition eingestellt wird, und in einer von sieben Farben am Blatt. Zwischen Nabe und Spitze gibt es nirgends ein Gelenk, und bei Vorderradbremsen, die so leistungsfähig sind wie die der Super Duke R, ist genau das der Punkt. Nichts am Hebel kann sich bewegen außer um seinen Drehpunkt, eine kleine Änderung des Fingerdrucks erreicht den Bremszylinder also als kleine Änderung und nicht als Ruck, nachdem erst Spiel aufgenommen wurde.
Die Duke-Leiter hinauf
Wer von einer kleineren Duke auf die Super Duke R umsteigt, bringt meist die Bremsgewohnheiten des kleineren Motorrads mit. Auf einem leichten Einzylinder mit einer Scheibe ist ein kräftiger Griff mit der ganzen Hand normal. An der 1290 kann derselbe Griff das Motorrad abrupter aufs Vorderrad werfen als erwartet, und die erste Fahrt hinterlässt womöglich den Eindruck, die Bremsen seien bissig, obwohl die Hand einfach zu viel auf einmal verlangt. Das Mittel ist, neu zu kalibrieren. Stellen Sie die Griffweite so ein, dass das Blatt Ihre Finger ohne Strecken erreicht, und machen Sie dann auf einem ruhigen Parkplatz eine Reihe von Stopps, zuerst bei niedrigem Tempo, und lassen Sie den Druck in einer gleichmäßigen Rampe statt in einer Stufe ansteigen. Viele Fahrer finden zwei Finger an diesem Motorrad völlig ausreichend, und hier kommt das kurze Blatt ins Spiel, weil es die übrigen Finger vom Hebel fernhält und um den Griff gelegt lässt. Wenn Sie lieber die ganze Hand einsetzen, kommt die Standardlänge dem originalen Hebel der Super Duke R am nächsten.
Passform und Kompatibilität
Laut Accossato deckt dieser Hebel die Modelljahre 2014 bis 2023 der 1290 Super Duke R ab, und er wird am motorradeigenen Bremszylinder montiert. Für die Kupplung ist das passende Teil der ESM011, aufgeführt für die Super Duke R von 2014 bis 2021 und in denselben Farben gefertigt.
