Spätere XSR900 tragen den Achsprotektoren-Code PF055, der die breitere Jahresspanne widerspiegelt, die Accossato für dieses Motorrad listet, seit sich die Produktion auf ihre endgültige Ausstattung eingespielt hatte. Besitzer dieser späteren Baujahre fahren sie oft auf langen Autobahnpendelstrecken, wo eine plötzliche Fahrstreifensperrung wegen Bauarbeiten den Verkehr mit wenig Vorwarnung auf eine einzige Spur zwingen kann, und ein unvorbereiteter Fahrer muss möglicherweise im Bruchteil einer Sekunde bremsen und ausweichen, um ein stehendes Fahrzeug voraus zu vermeiden. Accossato listet den PF055 für die XSR900 von 2016 bis 2020.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Beide PF055-Protektoren teilen sich eine schwarze Ausführung über einem Aufbau aus Aluminium und Kunststoff, zugeschnitten für die linke und rechte Seite des Vorderrads. Accossatos eigene Darstellung des Sets nennt die Distanzstücke, die Schrauben und den Rest, was die Montage verlangt. Zwingt eine plötzliche Autobahn-Fahrstreifensperrung zu hartem Bremsen und rutscht die XSR900 dabei, stehen diese Protektoren bereit, als erste Verteidigung für Gabel und Achsbereich zu dienen, und nehmen so einen Teil dessen auf, was diese Teile sonst abbekommen würden. Hat ein Protektor diesen Stoß einmal abgefangen, montieren Sie einen neuen, statt ihm erneut zu vertrauen.
Eine Fahrstreifensperrung ohne viel Vorwarnung
Autobahnbaustellen kündigen sich manchmal mit reichlich Vorlauf an, mit Leitkegeln und reduziertem Tempolimit weit im Voraus, doch eine Notsperrung wegen einer Panne oder eines Unfalls kann fast ohne Vorwarnung auftauchen, besonders hinter einer unübersichtlichen Kurve oder gleich nach einer Kuppe. Ein Fahrer der XSR900 bei Autobahntempo hat nur Sekunden, die Lücke einzuschätzen, geradeaus hart zu bremsen und zu entscheiden, ob ein Spurwechsel wirklich sicher ist, und jeden dieser Schritte leicht falsch zu machen, kann in einem Rutscher statt einem kontrollierten Halt enden. Einen großzügigen Sicherheitsabstand zu halten und weiter voraus zu schauen, als nötig erscheint, verringern beide die Gefahr, so überrascht zu werden. Gibt die Front unter harter Bremsung nach, nehmen die Protektoren den ersten Kontakt auf; prüfen Sie sie, die Gabel und die Hebel, bevor die Fahrt weitergeht.
Passform und Kompatibilität
An der XSR900 läuft der PF055 laut Accossato von 2016 bis 2020, breiter als die Spanne des früheren PF040 für dasselbe Motorrad. Dieses Modell nimmt außerdem hinten den PP080 und an der Verkleidung den TP097. Derselbe vordere Protektor ist in unserem Shop auch anderswo gelistet, bei der MT-09, der Tracer 900 und der Tracer 900 GT.
