Die Speed Triple 1050 R brachte verbesserte Federung und Bremsen in Triumphs nacktes Flaggschiff, eine Kombination, die Besitzer dazu verleitet, gelegentlich einen Trackday zu buchen, statt all diese Fähigkeiten auf öffentlichen Straßen ungenutzt zu lassen. Schnelle Kurven an einem Trackday fordern dem Vorderrad viel ab, und ein Fahrer, der etwas zu viel Tempo in eine enger werdende Kurve mitnimmt, kann feststellen, dass die Speed Triple 1050 R weit herausrutscht auf den Bordstein, bevor der Reifen vollständig den Grip verliert. Fertigung und Materialgüte
Der PF03 verbindet in seinen beiden schwarzen Protektoren Aluminium mit Kunststoff, gebaut für die linke und rechte Seite des Vorderrads. Accossato beschreibt das Set als vollständig mit Distanzstücken, Schrauben und jedem weiteren für die Montage nötigen Teil. An der Speed Triple 1050 R, einem Motorrad mit einem Fahrwerk, das hart gefordert werden kann, sollen die Protektoren vor Gabel und Achsbereich den Boden berühren, falls das Vorderrad in einer schnellen Kurve nachgibt, was begrenzen kann, was diese Teile abbekommen. Sie sind nicht dafür gebaut, jeden Einschlag unbeschadet zu überstehen, und ein Protektor mit tiefem Kratzer sollte vor der nächsten Einheit ausgetauscht werden.
Eine schnelle Kurve, eine Spur zu viel Tempo
In einer schnellen Kurve herauszurutschen, fühlt sich im Moment selten dramatisch an; es beginnt als ein kleines, nagendes Gefühl, dass die Speed Triple 1050 R nicht ganz so scharf einlenkt wie erwartet, und bis der Fahrer reagiert, treibt das Motorrad schon auf den Bordstein oder den Kiesauslauf zu. Das Gas sanft zurückzunehmen statt die Bremse zu greifen, beruhigt das Fahrwerk meist, doch an einem Tag mit knappem Grip kann selbst eine überlegte Reaktion damit enden, dass das Vorderrad einklappt. Erfahrene Trackday-Fahrer lassen sich in schnellen Kurven aus genau diesem Grund eine Reserve, um korrigieren zu können, bevor das Limit erreicht ist. Gibt das Vorderrad tatsächlich nach, nehmen die Protektoren den ersten Kontakt mit Asphalt oder Kies auf; prüfen Sie sie nach einem solchen Ausritt zusammen mit Gabel und Hebeln, bevor das Motorrad wieder auf die Strecke geht.

Accossatos Anwendungsliste gibt den PF03 für die Speed Triple 1050 R von 2012 bis 2015 an, und unser Eintrag entspricht diesen Jahren. Die Sturzpads TP043 sind ebenfalls für dieses Motorrad gelistet.
