Die GSX-S1000F verkleidet Suzukis großen Vierzylinder-Reihenmotor mit einer Halbverkleidung, die ihr gegenüber der nackten GSX-S1000 etwas mehr Wetterschutz gibt, ohne sie zu einem echten Tourer zu machen. Händler stellen gern ein Exemplar für Probefahrten auf den Vorplatz, und ein Vorplatz ist ein enger, langsamer Ort: ein nervöser Fahrer, der zum ersten Mal losfährt, ein um wenige Zentimeter falsch eingeschätzter Bordstein, eine zu schnell kommende Kupplung. Für die GSX-S1000F von 2015 bis 2018 listet Accossato den PF054, zwei schwarze Achsprotektoren vorne.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Jeder PF054-Protektor wird aus Aluminium und Kunststoff gefertigt und schwarz ausgeführt, und das Paar deckt beide Seiten des Vorderrads ab. Accossato gibt an, dass der Montagesatz die Distanzstücke, die Schrauben und jedes weitere für die Montage nötige Teil enthält. Ihre Aufgabe an der GSX-S1000F ist eng umrissen: Fällt das Motorrad, sollen sie vor der Gabel und dem Bereich der Achse den Boden berühren, damit diese Teile weniger vom Schleifen abbekommen. Das kann den Schaden dort verringern, ausschließen kann es ihn nicht, und ein durchgescheuerter Protektor wird einfach gegen einen neuen getauscht.
Die Probefahrt mit einem fremden Motorrad
Eine Probefahrt setzt einen Fahrer auf eine Maschine, die er noch nie berührt hat, mit Schaltern, Spiegeln und einem Schleifpunkt der Kupplung, die sich in den ersten Minuten alle ein wenig fremd anfühlen. Halten Sie beide Füße bereit nah am Boden, bis das Motorrad richtig rollt, schauen Sie weit voraus statt auf das Vorderrad, und vertrauen Sie dem Seitenständer nicht auf unebenem Pflaster. Fällt das Motorrad in diesen ersten unbeholfenen Metern um, ist es ein langsamer Stoß statt eines schnellen Unfalls, und genau für diesen Moment gibt es die Protektoren. Nach einem solchen Stoß sollte ein Händler das Motorrad einschließlich der Protektoren prüfen, bevor der nächste Kunde damit losfährt.

Accossatos Anwendungsliste gibt den PF054 für die GSX-S1000F von 2015 bis 2018 an, und unser Eintrag folgt genau diesen Jahren.
