MV Agusta baute die Rivale als Crossover, halb Naked, halb Adventure-Tourer, und verkaufte sie nie in den Stückzahlen ihrer konventionelleren Geschwister, was Rivale-Besitzern weniger Anlaufstellen lässt, wenn ein Teil beschädigt wird. Ein Umfaller bei geringer Geschwindigkeit an einer Kreuzung oder an der Tankstelle ist bei einem Crossover genauso wahrscheinlich wie bei jedem Naked Bike, und die Front bekommt das meist zuerst ab. Für die Rivale 800 der Baujahre 2013 bis 2016 bieten Accossatos Achsprotektoren vorne PF045 einen griffbereiten Ersatz für ein Teil, das sich sonst nicht leicht finden lässt.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Die beiden PF045-Protektoren teilen sich eine schwarze Oberfläche über einem Körper aus Aluminium und Kunststoff, je einer auf jeder Seite der Vorderachse in dieser Anwendung verschraubt. Accossato packt Distanzstücke, Schrauben und alles, was es sonst für die Montage als nötig ansieht, in das Set. Die eigenen Gabel- und Achsmaße dieser Rivale sind in den uns vorliegenden Unterlagen nirgends angegeben, daher werden in diesem konkreten Eintrag keine Schraubengrößen, Bolzenlängen oder Spielmaße vermutet.
Ein Motorrad in kleinerer Stückzahl
Die Rivale erreichte nie die Verkaufszahlen von MVs Brutale- oder F3-Reihe, und ein so seltener Crossover bedeutet, dass ein Händler seltener eine Ersatz-Achsabdeckung auf Lager hat, wenn einmal etwas beschädigt wird. Ein Fahrer, der die Rivale an einer Kreuzung oder beim Rangieren auf engem Parkraum fallen lässt, muss länger warten und mehr für ein Originalersatzteil bezahlen, als ein Besitzer eines verbreiteteren Naked Bikes das müsste. Früh montierte Protektoren nehmen dieses Risiko vom Tisch, bevor es überhaupt zum Problem wird.
