Gang trägt ein zurückhaltendes Camouflage-Muster in Grau und Silber auf glänzendem Schwarz — ein Dekor, das aus der Entfernung schlicht dunkel wirkt und seine Struktur erst aus der Nähe preisgibt. Der Helm, auf dem es sitzt, ist der Skwal i3: Sharks Integralmodell mit fest eingebauten LED-Bremsleuchten. Rote Elemente im Heck, weiße an der Front, gesteuert von einem Sensor im Helm selbst. Der Hersteller bezeichnet ihn als ersten Serienhelm mit dieser Lösung.

Die Ratsche am Kinnriemen

Ein Detail, das im Alltag mehr ausmacht als viele Datenblattzeilen: Der Skwal i3 schließt über einen Mikrometrik-Verschluss. Das gezahnte Band rastet Stufe für Stufe ein, was bedeutet, dass Sie die Riemenlänge einmal einstellen und danach jeden Tag dieselbe Spannung erreichen, ohne nachzufädeln. Geöffnet wird mit einem Zug am Lösebändchen, was mit Winterhandschuhen funktioniert. Der Skwal Cup verwendet dagegen einen Doppel-D-Ring, der zwar in manchen Rennreglements vorgeschrieben ist, aber bei jeder Fahrt neu gefädelt werden will.

Schale und Dämpfungskern

Die Außenhaut wird aus Polycarbonat gespritzt, Handelsname Lexan. Innen sitzt ein EPS-Block, dessen Härte über die Struktur abgestuft ist, sodass verschiedene Bereiche unterschiedlich reagieren, statt dass ein einheitlicher Schaum alles gleich behandelt.

Die Leuchten und ihre Ansteuerung

Keine Leitung führt zum Motorrad, keine Funkverbindung ist nötig. Stattdessen misst ein Sensor im Helm Beschleunigung in drei Achsen und leitet daraus ab, ob gerade gebremst wird. Normale Verzögerung ergibt drei Lichtimpulse pro Sekunde am roten Heckelement, starke Verzögerung fünf — ein Unterschied, den ein nachfolgender Fahrer intuitiv als Dringlichkeit liest. Die weiße Frontbeleuchtung arbeitet davon getrennt und dient nur der Erkennbarkeit entgegenkommender Verkehrsteilnehmer. Bluetooth ist nicht an Bord.

Stromversorgung

Die Zelle ist fest installiert; Shark sieht keinen Wechsel durch den Nutzer vor. Nachgeladen wird über USB-C, das Kabel ist im Nackenschutz untergebracht. Für eine volle Ladung setzt der Hersteller etwa drei Stunden an, woraus sich rund zwölf Stunden Leuchtbetrieb ergeben. Ohne registrierte Bewegung geht die Elektronik nach einer Minute in Bereitschaft, nach 72 Stunden ohne Nutzung schaltet sie komplett ab. Wenn der Ladezustand gegen null geht, lässt sich das System laut Anleitung noch einschalten, beendet sich dann jedoch nahezu sofort wieder.

Belüftung

Vier Öffnungen an der Front nehmen Luft auf, zwei Extraktoren am Hinterkopf geben sie wieder ab — diese Zahlen stammen aus einer unabhängigen Testredaktion, denn Shark selbst spricht nur allgemein von Mehrkanalbelüftung. Eine Aussage darüber, ob die Einlässe schließbar sind, findet sich in keiner belastbaren Quelle, und wir tragen keine nach.

Visier

Der Helm nutzt die Scheibengeneration VZ400, die Shark auch dem D-Skwal 3, Ridill 2, Skwal Cup und Skwal i Cup mitgibt. Die Einstufung lautet optische Klasse 1, die Stärke verjüngt sich von drei auf 2,2 Millimeter, und die Form trägt einen Vortex-Generator. Kratzfest ist die Oberfläche beschichtet. Der Pinlock-70-Einsatz ist ab Werk eingesetzt und in der Spannung justierbar — gegen beschlagene Scheiben bei Kälte und Regen ist das die wirksamste Maßnahme. Der Wechsel funktioniert über den zentralen Griff mit Mittelverriegelung ohne Werkzeug. Selbsttönende IRID-Scheiben gibt es für dieses Modell nicht; Shark führt dafür ausschließlich AERON GP, AERON und RACE R PRO.

Sonnenblende und Kompatibilität

Hinter dem Außenvisier sitzt eine ausfahrbare Sonnenblende, bedient über einen Schieber am Scheitel. Das Innenfutter ist für Brillenträger eingerichtet. Kommunikationssysteme der Sharktooth- und SENA-Reihe lassen sich ohne Eingriff montieren. Die Garantie beträgt fünf Jahre, Ersatzteile sind lieferbar.

Gewicht

Die offizielle Zahl lautet 1.570 Gramm und gilt für die erste, kleinste Schale, nicht für Größe M. Eine unabhängige Langzeiterprobung führt denselben Wert und lässt den Größenbezug ebenso offen. Die Zahl ist damit belastbar, ihr Bezugspunkt nicht, und wir erfinden keine M-Angabe. Warum es zählt: Helmgewicht wirkt über die Dauer, nicht im Moment des Aufsetzens, und macht sich in der Nackenmuskulatur nach Stunden bemerkbar. Als Orientierung: Straßenzugelassene Integralhelme unseres Angebots bewegen sich grob zwischen 1.250 und 1.800 Gramm.

Lautstärke

Für diesen Helm liegt kein Dezibelwert aus einer Quelle vor, die wir für verlässlich halten — deshalb nennen wir keinen. Was belegbar ist: Eine unabhängige Dauererprobung beschreibt den Geräuschpegel als nicht ungewöhnlich hoch und findet keine einzelne Stelle der Schale, die für sich pfeift. Die Redaktion nennt dafür zwei Gründe, ein beidseitig kräftiges Nackenpolster und einen großzügigen Kinnvorhang. Der tatsächliche Eindruck bleibt abhängig von Windschild und Sitzhaltung.

Was ECE 22.06 prüft

Die Zulassung des Helms lautet 22.06 und ist in der EU seit Januar 2024 für neue Homologationen verpflichtend. Im Vergleich zur früheren Fassung: achtzehn Prüfpunkte statt fünf, mehrere Aufprallgeschwindigkeiten statt einer, zusätzlich ein Schrägaufprall gegen einen rauen Amboss für Dreh- und Reibbelastung. Ebenfalls neu ist das Brain Injury Criterion als Maß für Rotationskräfte. Geprüft wird der Helm samt Visier, Pinlock und montierter Funkeinheit. Das Kennzeichen 2206 trägt keinen FIM-Zusatz — eine Straßen-, keine Wettbewerbszulassung.

Größen

Sechs Größen von XS bis XXL stehen zur Verfügung. Wie viele Rohschalen Shark dafür fertigt, gibt der Hersteller nicht bekannt, und Zahlen aus zweiter Hand übernehmen wir nicht. Entscheidend ist der Kopfumfang laut Größentabelle.

Das Gang-Dekor im Alltag

Glänzender Klarlack lässt das Grau-Silber-Muster deutlicher hervortreten, als es auf einer matten Fläche der Fall wäre, und macht die Oberfläche unempfindlich gegen die üblichen Reinigungsmittel — Polituren sind hier zulässig. Der Nachteil von Glanz ist bekannt: Feine Kratzer sind sichtbarer. Inhaltlich ist das Dekor eine bewusst zurückgenommene Entscheidung, bei der die auffällige Komponente des Helms nicht die Lackierung, sondern das Licht ist. Für den täglichen Weg durch die Stadt ist das stimmig, denn dort zählt vor allem, wie schnell ein nachfolgender Fahrer Ihre Verzögerung bemerkt.

Preisliche Einordnung

Dieses Dekor kostet 349,99 €. Die übrigen Straßenhelme der Marke: Ridill 2 ab 189,99 €, D-Skwal 3 ab 219,99 €, Skwal Cup zwischen 269,99 € und 339,99 € — sämtlich ohne LED. Wer das Lichtsystem will, hat außer dem Skwal i3 nur den Skwal i Cup ab 329,99 €. Der Mehrpreis gegenüber dem Cup geht auf Sensor, Akku und Leuchten zurück, nicht auf eine andere Schale.

Ersatzteile

Die VZ400-Scheibe teilt sich der Skwal i3 mit vier weiteren Shark-Modellen; das gilt auch für den Pinlock-70-Einsatz, der unter derselben Artikelnummer geführt wird. Eine beschädigte Scheibe ist deshalb ein Ersatzteilfall und kein Argument für einen neuen Helm.

Wo Sie Abstriche machen

Eine SHARP-Bewertung existiert für dieses Modell nicht. Die britische Prüfstelle hat Skwal und Skwal 2 getestet, beide mit vier Sternen — ältere Helme ohne Lichtsystem, deren Ergebnis nicht übertragbar ist. Die Zulassung beschränkt sich auf ECE 22.06 ohne FIM-Zusatz. MIPS fehlt ebenso wie ein elektronisches Notentriegelungssystem, das Visier hat keine Tear-off-Stifte und ist nicht IRID-tauglich, der Verschluss ist eine Ratsche statt eines Doppel-D-Rings. Der wichtigste Vorbehalt betrifft das Recht: Ob die LED-Bremsleuchte auf deutschen Straßen benutzt werden darf, ließ sich nicht klären. Der Hersteller beansprucht keine Zulassung dafür, sondern überträgt die Prüfung der Landesgesetzgebung in der Anleitung dem Fahrer und weist für die Leuchte weder E-Prüfzeichen noch Homologationsnummer aus. Weder eine Herstellerquelle noch die unabhängige Fachpresse bestätigt oder bestreitet eine StVZO-Konformität. Das melden wir so, wie es ist — ungeklärt. Eine belastbare Auskunft erteilen TÜV oder Zulassungsstelle, und die Bremsleuchte am Fahrzeug bleibt davon unberührt.
