The 2013 to 2020 CRF250L has reached a rare place: cheap without being finished. On the used market it is one of the least expensive ways into road-legal dirt riding, and that price quietly decides where it gets ridden. A bike worth this little goes up the rutted climb a far more valuable adventure machine turns around on. The registration document says road use; the air the engine swallows says otherwise. The Sprint Filter PM241T12 is chosen for that second reality — a dry polyester special non-woven retaining down to 7 microns at a rated 560 l/m²/sec.
Key Features
- Dry polyester special non-woven with 7-micron retention, the finest medium in the range
- Rated flow of 560 l/m²/sec, specified for off-road running, desert stages and extreme dust
- Completely dry: no oiling step before fitting, so nothing can be drawn downstream
- Takes the original element position in the series airbox — nothing to cut, nothing to remap
- Serviced with air instead of replaced, so it stays with the bike for as long as you keep it
- Guaranteed for twenty-four months from purchase
A cheap motorcycle gets ridden in expensive places
Where a bike spends its weekends is decided by what its owner is willing to risk, not by the spec sheet. The CRF250L is light, forgiving and worth little enough to end up on gravel climbs, dry riverbeds and tracks that have not seen rain in weeks. Dust of that kind is suspended mineral matter, and its fine fraction stays airborne long after the visible cloud has dropped — that is the part which reaches the bore. What the resulting wear costs has nothing to do with what the motorcycle cost: a scored cylinder on a machine of this age is an economic write-off, not a repair. The element is the only barrier on that path.
Where the P08 is the better balance
Retention and flow pull against each other, and the range states the trade openly: the P08 holds down to 80 microns and flows 5,050 l/m²/sec, the P14 down to 14 microns at 1,800, this T12 down to 7 microns at 560. Finer is a further step along one exchange, not a higher rank. A 250 single at road speeds sits well below the ceiling its airbox was drawn around, which is why the finest medium is affordable here at all. If your CRF250L meets gravel only in a car park, it never earns that exchange, and the P08 is then the better-balanced element rather than the lesser one.
Care and cleaning
Servicing the PM241T12 takes a compressor and nothing else: put the air on the clean face and drive the dust back out the way it came. After a dry summer, lukewarm water with a little mild washing-up liquid handles the rest; rinse until the run-off is clear, then let it dry in moving air and in its own time, since heat and flames destroy the medium. It goes back in dry and untreated. Sprint Filter builds it to last as long as the motorcycle does; the maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Honda CRF250L, model years 2013 to 2020. The same element also covers the CRF250 Rally of 2017 to 2020 — two machines in all, listed in the Fitment tab.
