Sprint Filter cuts three elements for the airbox of the CFMOTO CL-C 450, and the gap between them says more than any one of them. There is the standard P08 at 80 microns, the racing F1-85 at 85, and then this one at 7. Nothing sits in between. The 14-micron P14 that the NK 450, SR-S 450 and SS 450 can be ordered with is not listed for the CL-C, so here the fine end of the programme is not a slider with intermediate stops but a switch with two positions. Picking the T12 means deciding that the air this motorcycle breathes carries something worth stopping.
Key Features
- Dry polyester nonwoven, rated 7 microns at 560 l/m²/sec
- Never treated with filter oil, so nothing is re-applied after washing
- Takes the place of the paper panel in the standard airbox; no remap
- Roughly double the working area of a typical performance element
- Regenerated with a compressed-air line and back in the bike the same day
- Built for the motorcycle's service life; warranted two years from purchase
Two positions, not a scale
A tighter medium holds back more and lets less through. Those are two halves of one sentence and neither half is optional, which is why the step from 80 microns to 7 should not be read as a promotion. A CL-C 450 that spends its life on sealed roads is better served by the standard weave, and Sprint Filter lists both because they answer different questions, not one question at two quality levels. The question it answers is what the air is carrying: harvest dust on farm lanes, an unsurfaced approach road ridden daily, a dry spell where every vehicle ahead leaves a cloud. Where none of that applies, the flow you hand over buys a margin you never draw on.
What loading looks like on each side
Nothing you insert into a standard airbox makes a stock CL-C 450 noticeably quicker, and a listing that hints at it is selling a story, not a part. The gain is smaller and far steadier: intake restriction that returns to where it began each time the element is serviced, instead of creeping upward until the next replacement. A disposable panel behaves the other way round — it filters, it tightens with every kilometre, and the moment it starts costing you something is invisible from the saddle. This element loads too, and in the conditions it was made for it loads sooner than the standard weave. The difference is that its loading is reversible.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air on the clean face, worked outwards, is the whole routine: what the nonwoven stopped leaves by the way it came in. Heavier soiling lifts with lukewarm water and a little mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. Let it dry in moving air at its own pace — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — and refit it dry. Nothing is sprayed on afterwards: the PM270T12 has no oil in its specification. The maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab on this page.
