The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
PM154P14 is catalogued for one machine, the Bimota KB998 Rimini, although the airbox it fills is shared with a Kawasaki that is listed for the standard and the racing media. Fit is not what separates the two entries; the panel is cut for the housing and the housing is the same. A media listing is a statement about the conditions a manufacturer expects a machine to meet, and it repays being read that way before anyone decides whether this element belongs in their own bike.
Key Features
- Dry special nonwoven material — no oil at any point, and nothing to re-apply after a wash
- 14 microns of filtration at a rated 1,800 l/m²/sec, the medium listed for dusty use
- Retention gained is flow given up: the standard P08 is rated 80 microns at 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Roughly twice the filtering surface of other performance elements
- Direct replacement for the paper panel in the series airbox; nothing cut, no remapping
- Washed and refitted rather than discarded, with two years of warranty from purchase
What a single-machine listing does and does not say
It does not say the element would fail to seal in the other machine on the shared list. It says which use was in mind. A litre-class sports engine ridden the way most of them are ridden has little to gain from a medium that hands over most of its flow. Where a listing like this earns its keep is on roads carrying a lot of fine mineral dust, on long stretches spent in the wake of other traffic, and in the weeks when the air is thick with pollen and harvest dust.
The trade, stated plainly
14 microns hold back more than 80 do, and 1,800 l/m²/sec is a fraction of 5,050. Both sentences are true at once, and neither makes one medium better than the other — they are two settings of the same compromise. If this KB998 is used on circuits, this is the wrong element and that should be said outright: the flow surrendered is flow the engine will genuinely ask for. If it lives on dusty roads, the surrendered flow was never being used, while the material held back would otherwise have reached the running surfaces and the oil. Neither version adds power. A panel in an unmodified airbox returns only the restriction it caused.
Care and cleaning
Blow the PM154P14 out from the clean side with an air line, working steadily across the material and giving it time, because a fibre mat holds part of its load below the surface. If a wash is needed, lukewarm water with a mild washing-up detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, then a full dry in open moving air. No hot-air gun, no radiator, no flame at any stage — heat is what ruins the material. It is refitted dry, untreated, and pressed evenly into its frame. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the series airbox of the Bimota KB998 Rimini of 2025 and 2026, and listed for that machine alone; it appears on its own in the Fitment tab. The same housing is catalogued with the standard P08 and the racing F1-85 for two machines, and with the water-repellent P037 for this one.
