Read the fitment list for this racing element and one entry stands out. Five of the seven machines are Superquadro sports bikes and nakeds — Panigale 959, 1199 and 1299, Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 — and one is the Scrambler 1100. The seventh is the Multistrada V2, a touring motorcycle built for distance, luggage and a passenger, whose rider seldom holds full throttle for long. It is on the list because its airbox takes the same element, not because a V2 needs a racing weave. For most owners it does not.

Where the extra flow is collected
Three times the P08's flow sounds like a large number, and on paper it is. But flow capacity is only drawn on when the engine asks for it: wide open, high in the rev range, and held there. A Multistrada V2 on a tour spends almost no time in that state, and with panniers, a passenger or a head wind it spends even less. Nothing about fitting this element makes a standard 937 cc twin stronger — no filter in an unmodified airbox does. What it changes is how much intake capacity sits unused, and on a touring motorcycle the answer is most of it.
When it does make sense
There are Multistrada V2s at track days, and there are owners who build on the engine with the kind of exhaust and mapping work that moves where the restriction sits. For them the racing weave can be part of a plan, and it asks for the discipline that goes with one: the element comes out and is cleaned after a hard session, not at the next service. For everyone else the standard P08, at well under half the price of this one, is the better purchase for this motorcycle. The gap in what the two retain at 100 microns is small; the gap in what they cost is not.
Care and cleaning
Clean PM127S F1-85 with compressed air from the clean side outwards, so the collected dirt leaves by the face it came in on. What air will not move comes out in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. Dry it in moving air at room temperature and never near a heat gun, a radiator or a flame, then refit it dry with nothing applied. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.

For the Ducati Multistrada V2 and V2 S of 2022 to 2024, with the 937 cc twin; the V2 of 2025 onwards, with the 890 cc engine, takes PM279S F1-85. Seven machines share this code in total, listed with their years in the Fitment tab.
