The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
The F3 800 Ago was a commemorative machine, built for four years and then finished. Motorcycles like that attract a particular anxiety around servicing: the worry is not what a part costs but whether it will exist in a decade, once the model is a footnote and the dealer network has moved on. On the air filter at least, the worry has no basis. CM135S is not an Ago part. It is the element MV uses across its entire triple range, including machines still being built.
Key Features
- Dry woven polyester — never oiled, so no film is left behind to travel into the intake
- Approximately twice the filtering surface of other performance filters
- Mesh aperture of 80 µm, rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Polyester threads from ø 22 microns, woven rather than pressed
- A direct exchange in the series housing, without modification and without a remap
- Regenerated by washing; two years of warranty run from the purchase date
Availability by association
A consumable stays in production for as long as something is still buying it. Tie a part to one limited edition and its supply ends with interest in that edition; tie it to eleven models spanning more than a decade of production and it remains ordinary stock. The Ago benefits from the second case entirely by accident, and the effect compounds because the element is washable: an owner who cleans it instead of replacing it may never have to test the supply question at all.
An unmarked service history
The other thing a numbered bike accumulates is paperwork, and an air filter is one of the few items that can be maintained without adding a line to it. Nothing is cut, nothing is rewired, no map is loaded, and the original MV panel can be labelled and stored so the machine can be returned to precisely the specification it left the factory in. What it will not do is add performance — an insert filter in a standard airbox never does, and an Ago is not the bike on which to start believing otherwise.
Care and cleaning
Air first: hold a compressor line against the clean face and blow the dirt back out the way it arrived. Water is the exception rather than the rule — lukewarm, with a mild detergent, rinsed until it runs clean — and afterwards the element needs time rather than temperature. No heat gun, no radiator, no flame; the polyester survives none of them. It returns to the housing dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet from Sprint Filter is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
