The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
Whitewalls, chrome and a name taken from 1972: the Eldorado is a California bought largely for how it looks standing still, and motorcycles bought for that reason lead a particular life. They cover modest distances, come out on good days and spend long spells parked. Service schedules are not written for that pattern — they count kilometres while the calendar keeps moving, so the interval arrives years after the machine was ready for it, and the air filter is where that shows up first.
Key Features
- Dry polyester that neither gums nor settles during a long spell in the garage
- Roughly double the filtering area of other performance elements
- Threads from ø 22 microns, woven rather than matted
- Standard airbox, standard appearance, no remap
- Cleaned in minutes with an air line whenever the bike comes out
- Two years of warranty from purchase, on a part meant to last the motorcycle's life
Low mileage is its own problem
The question a low-mileage owner keeps running into is whether it is worth buying a part for a machine that has covered a few hundred kilometres since the last service. With a paper element the honest answer is usually no, so it stays in for another season, and another after that. A washable panel removes the question instead of answering it: clean it when the bike comes out of storage, refit it dry, and the intake is back at its starting restriction whatever the odometer says. That is the whole of the benefit — it adds no power, and nothing fitted inside a standard airbox does.
Standing still is a duty cycle
An oiled cotton element left for months is the awkward case, because the oil settles and creeps without the bike having turned a wheel. Dry polyester does nothing at all while it waits. There is no film to move, no oiling interval running in the background, and no difference between the airbox in October and the airbox in April. For a machine that spends more of the year covered than ridden, a part with no idle failure mode is worth more than a specification.
Care and cleaning
Blow it through outwards from the clean face — a minute with an air line, ideally before the first ride of the season rather than after the last. A wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent is occasional: rinse until clear, dry in moving air, keep heat and flame away from it entirely, and refit only when dry.
