Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – CFMOTO MT-X 1000 (2026) SM292S

The CFMOTO MT-X 1000 is new for the 2026 model year. This filter is not. The same part number has been the listed standard element for the MT-X 800 since 2022, which means that a machine in its first season of production takes over an airbox component with five model years of use already behind it. That is a rarer situation than it sounds. Most things bolted to a brand-new motorcycle are as new as the motorcycle, with no accumulated experience of how they behave at thirty thousand kilometres, and the owner finds out first. Here the finding-out has largely happened elsewhere.

An old part on a new machine

A first-year model comes with a short and awkward list of unknowns: which consumables are actually stocked, how long a part takes to arrive, whether the dealer network has seen one yet. An element carried over from an existing model shortens that list by one line. The cleaning procedure is already written, the part number is already familiar to the people who supply it, and nothing about it waits on a first production revision. When the rest of the motorcycle still has to prove itself, there is something to be said for the component that already has.

Buying on properties instead of reports

Nobody has years of experience with a 2026 machine, so the sensible basis for a decision is what can be verified now rather than what owners will report later. This element is dry, so no coating is dosed, dries out or travels toward the sensors. It is washable, so its condition is something you inspect and correct instead of estimate. It goes into the standard airbox unmodified, so nothing about the intake is altered. And it does not make a standard MT-X 1000 noticeably faster — no drop-in filter does. What it changes is that intake restriction becomes recoverable.

Care and cleaning

The ordinary service is compressed air on the clean side, worked outwards, so that the collected material exits the way it came in. For a greasy element, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent does the job, rinsed through until nothing further washes out.
