DescriptionThe whole story▼
A small part, and it decides whether the bike can still carry a passenger. Spark's GBM8803T and GBM8805T systems reroute the exhaust through the space the standard passenger footrest mount occupies; SKIT039 is the frame bracket that puts the footrest back.
Key Features
- Frame bracket for the passenger footrest.
- For use with the Spark GBM8803T and GBM8805T systems.
- BMW S1000RR, 2015 to 2018.
- Stainless steel.
- Ordered separately from the system.
Why It Is Not in the Box
Most buyers of a racing exhaust for an S1000RR are building a track bike, and a track bike has no pillion pegs. Spark builds the systems accordingly and sells the bracket to the minority who want the motorcycle to stay usable with two people on it.
That keeps the price of the system down for everyone else. It also means the decision has to be made at the time of ordering rather than discovered afterwards.
What It Actually Does
The bracket bolts to the frame and carries the footrest hanger clear of the new exhaust routing. Nothing is cut, nothing is drilled, and the original footrest assembly is reused.
Removing it later — when the bike goes to the circuit for a weekend — is two bolts.
Stainless, and Why
The bracket is stainless steel rather than titanium. On a part that carries a passenger's weight through a bolted joint and gets a spanner on it more than once, that is the right material — stainless does not gall at the thread the way titanium can, and the few grams saved would not be measurable on the bike.
Order It With the System
The trap is the same as with every small mounting article: the exhaust arrives, the old one comes off, and the pillion pegs turn out to have nowhere to go. It costs less than a second shipment costs in time.
If the bike is a dedicated track machine, this article is not needed.
Fitment & Compatibility
BMW S1000RR, 2015 to 2018, in combination with the Spark systems GBM8803T and GBM8805T. Not required with GBM8811T unless the passenger footrest is to be kept. Not a fitting kit for any other Spark article.
Road Approval
Not applicable on its own. It is a mounting part; the road status of the motorcycle is decided by the exhaust fitted to it, and the Spark systems it belongs to are not approved.
