DescriptionThe whole story▼
The one that comes with the plug. Spark's 400 mm titanium Force silencer group for the D.60 STEP2 system, supplied with its dB killer — the only silencer group in the R1 range that includes one rather than offering it as an option.
Key Features
- Force silencer group, titanium, 400 mm, for the Yamaha R1 and R1M.
- dB killer included in the box.
- For Spark's D.60 STEP2 manifold in stainless or titanium.
- Within the 102 dB limit of the French championship and the Endurance World Championship without the insert fitted.
- Cylindrical case with a straightforward mounting interface.
- Sold as a group — silencer with its mounting parts.
Two Sound Levels From One Silencer
The Force clears 102 dB with nothing in it, which covers the French championship and the Endurance World Championship. With the dB killer fitted it goes lower again.
That second number is what this package is for. Some circuits, particularly those near housing, set limits below what any championship demands, and some countries impose a national ceiling on track days that has nothing to do with racing at all. A removable insert is the only practical way to have one exhaust that satisfies both a race weekend and a Tuesday evening test session.
The Honest Case for a dB Killer
A baffle is a restriction, and a restriction costs flow. There is no version of this where the plug is free — that is why Spark's stated aim for the range is to meet the limits without one, and why the plain groups ship empty.
Where it earns its place is as insurance. Being turned away at scrutineering costs the whole day; two decibels of headroom in a pocket costs nothing until you need it. Fit it for the sighting laps, take it out when you know the circuit's number, and you have made the decision with information rather than in advance.
Fitment & Compatibility
Yamaha R1 and R1M, 2015 through 2025, on Spark's D.60 manifolds GYA8878 in stainless or GYA8858 in titanium. Complete as kits these are GYA8878T and GYA8882T. The Force Evo group for the same diameter, without an insert, is G00SI41T.
Road Approval
None, dB killer or not. The insert changes the sound level, not the certification, and the D.60 manifold removes the catalytic converter. Closed circuits only.
