Black Series
Black Series is Spark's factory black over stainless. It is applied at the works rather than as an after-the-fact option, which is why it is a separate article number instead of a surcharge on the bright one.
What it buys is a matte, even black across the whole case, including the parts an aftermarket coater would struggle to reach. It holds up to exhaust temperature because it was specified for it.
Why a Dark Silencer Changes a Build
A bright can is a highlight. The eye goes to it before it goes to the tank, the frame or the engine cases, and on a machine built around dark paint that is usually the opposite of the intention.
Turn the silencer black and the exhaust line becomes a shadow under the frame rails. The proportions of the motorcycle read differently — longer and lower, because the eye no longer stops at the brightest point.
Living With It
Treat the finish as a finish. It is durable at working temperature but it is not armour: solvent-based wheel cleaners, oven cleaner and abrasive pads will all mark it, and a scuff on black shows more than the same scuff on brushed steel.
Water, a soft cloth and patience is the whole maintenance routine.
Why There Is No Photograph
Spark photographs the Classic only in bright scotch-brite stainless. Every image on the article page shows the finish of G00SI07I, not the black one you would be buying, and we would rather show you nothing than a picture of the wrong article.
