Lens and Vision
Sidi sorts its goggle lenses into three bands. Category 0 lets 80 to 100 percent of visible light through, Category 1 sits between 43 and 79 percent, and the mirrored Category 2 drops to 19 to 42 percent. The Gladius Smoke lives in the middle. In practice that means a mild tint for days when cloud and sun alternate, or for a track where you ride in and out of shadow. The surface carries a scratch-resistant treatment, which Sidi describes as protection against wear, grit and roost.
Over Your Glasses
Riders who need corrective lenses usually face a choice between contacts and a goggle that presses the frame of their spectacles against the nose. The Gladius Smoke is designed around that problem: the integrated Over The Glasses layout leaves extra volume in front of the eyes, and according to Sidi the frame settles around the glasses while staying stable in the helmet aperture. Try it with your own pair before the first moto, because spectacle shapes vary a lot.
Face Seal and Foam
Two layers of foam line the frame where it meets your face. Sidi names two jobs for them: a comfortable, secure seal and moisture management on long, sweaty rides. The foam is part of the goggle's material mix, which Sidi lists as 12 percent PU foam.
Strap and Helmet Fit
The printed elastic band has silicone on the inside, so it bites into the helmet's paint rather than sliding upward on a landing. Sidi calls the overall fit natural and stable inside the helmet. It is a one-size goggle, intended for adult motocross helmets.
What You Should Know
No anti-fog coating is mentioned anywhere in Sidi's documentation, so we do not promise one. The same goes for tear-off or roll-off compatibility and for a spare lens in the box. Sidi lists no protective standard for this goggle; the anti-intrusion frame is a manufacturer description, not a certification. Replaceable components are mentioned, but not specified, so ask us before ordering spares. Finally, Category 1 is a light tint: in strong summer sun a darker lens will feel more relaxed.
Colour
On the product photo the frame is a deep, glossy black and the strap a dark slate grey carrying a large white Sidi logo. Small black adjusters sit on the band. The combination works with any kit colour and hides mud splatter well, although dried dust shows up as a pale film on the black frame. The tint of the lens adds to the dark impression; from a few metres away the whole goggle reads almost black.
