About this tint
TE50 is a light, even tint without a mirror coating. It takes the edge off a bright day without the heavy darkening of a smoked or mirrored visor, which makes it Shark's road option among the tinted OXO visors. Shark's range description says it plainly: the Iridium colours are racing use only, and a TE50 light tinted approved version is available.
Road or track
Shark's wording in the Range Book 2027, page 38, is approved day use only. The supplier price list also describes the part as approved. So TE50 is the tinted visor for touring, commuting in sunshine and summer passes, as long as you are riding in daylight.
Every tinted visor runs out of usefulness when the light goes. Tunnels, dense forest, dusk and night call for the clear VZ39016P, which Shark approves for all users and which shares this part number. Many touring riders keep the clear one in the helmet bag and swap before sunset.
Fitting
Shark gives the OXO visor a central lock and a tool-free quick-release, so a change at a roadside stop takes no more than your hands. The Pinlock housing is moulded into the visor; the matching lens is part number VZ39005P, and its tension can be adjusted.
Care
Without a mirror layer the TE50 is easier to live with, but scratches still scatter light, and on a tinted visor they catch the sun at exactly the moment you need a clean view. Rinse dust off before wiping, soften insects with a wet cloth, dry with microfibre, and keep solvents away from the anti-scratch surface.
Which shell do I have
VZ39016P is the large-shell visor. The same TE50 tint for the small shell is VZ39015P, SKU VZ39015PTE50TU, which differs only in size. Shark makes two visor sizes for the OXO, one per shell, and they do not interchange.
Riders who need a big OXO size are normally on the large shell, yet we do not hold a table of which sizes Shark assigns to which shell. The number on your existing visor, or your helmet size sent to us, settles the question.
