DescriptionThe whole story▼
Paddock photos, a matching race livery, a helmet you want spotted from the grandstand: that is the territory of the Rainbow visor. Under part number VZ30046P, SKU VZ30046PRNWTU, Shark supplies this iridium mirror for the Spartan RS and the Spartan GT Pro, and its Range Book 2027 keeps it strictly to the circuit.
Key Features
- Multi-hued iridium mirror, named "RAINBOW" in the Range Book 2027
- Shark classes it racing use only (Range Book 2027, page 36)
- Compatible with the Spartan GT Pro and Spartan RS according to shark-helmets.com
- Pinlock 120 housing built into the visor; the matching insert is article VZ16018P
- Four-point anchor system, adjustable handling resistance, free positioning
- Same money as the other VZ30046P mirrors
About this tint
Where a silver mirror stays neutral, the Rainbow coating shows a run of colours across its outer face, and the mix changes as the light and your head angle change. Like every iridium layer it reflects part of the sunlight away before it reaches you, which calms glare off a bright track surface and keeps your eyes out of view.
The appeal is visual. Shark does not claim that Rainbow filters light differently from Red, Blue or Silver, so choose it for how it goes with your helmet graphics and bike, and expect the view through it to behave like the other mirrors. Shark charges the same for it as for the single-colour versions.
Road or track
The wording in the Range Book 2027, page 36, is racing use only. That is Shark's own classification, and it means Shark does not release the Rainbow version for road riding. The supplier description of VZ30046P mentions no approval at all.
For a race weekend that usually means two visors in the bag. If you want a second dark option for the circuit, the smoke VZ30010P carries the same racing classification; for the transfer on public roads, Shark lists the clear VZ30012P (INC) for all users.
Fitment
Shark's compatibility collection for these two helmets (shark-helmets.com, ecrans-compatibles-spartan-rs-spartan-gt-pro) is the source for the two helmets named here. The Spartan GT Pro and Spartan RS take the same VZ300 visor, so there is no left or right version to worry about.
Fitting
Swapping works on the patented four-point anchor system that already holds your current visor. The central grip carries the lock and a small vent notch. After fitting, set the handling resistance to taste: a stiffer setting helps the visor stay put when you crack it open on the straight. The helmet's handbook shows the release steps for the anchors.
Signs it needs replacing
A multi-coloured mirror hides light scuffs well at first glance, but not when you look through it into the sun. Tiny pits from track debris then flare up, and wiping the same spot after every session eventually strips the coating in patches. When a stripe of bare visor appears right in front of your eyes, the colour effect is broken and the glare comes back.
Care
Soak dead insects with a damp cloth before you wipe; dragging them off dry grinds their shells into the coating. Plain lukewarm water and a microfibre cloth are enough. Solvent-based cleaners and ordinary glass sprays can attack the reflective layer, which is softer than the visor underneath. Keep it in a soft pouch when it is off the helmet.
