DescriptionThe whole story▼
Shark does not actually call this one silver. In the Range Book 2027 the tint appears as Dark Chrome, while the supplier line reads VISOR ANTISCRATCH IRIDIUM with the colour code SLV. This listing is exactly that variant: SKU VZ36030PSLVTU under part number VZ36030P, the long iridium visor made for the open-face RS Jet.

About this tint
A chrome-type mirror is the least attention-seeking of the five iridium finishes on this part number. From outside it reads as a cool metallic grey and sits comfortably against black, white, grey or multi-colour helmet graphics. The mirror layer throws back part of the incoming light, so a sun-baked concrete paddock or a pale track apron glares less, and people looking at you see their own reflection rather than your eyes.
On a jet helmet this counts for more than on a full-face: the visor is the only screen between your eyes and the sky, and the long trip shape brings it well down over the face. Shark publishes no difference in light passage between Dark Chrome and the red, gold, blue or rainbow versions.
Road or track
Shark files Dark Chrome in the Range Book 2027 under racing use only, the same wording it applies to every iridium and smoked version of the RS Jet visor. Put simply, Shark does not release it for the road. For everyday riding the same family offers VZ36015P, either clear (approved for all users) or light tinted TE50 (approved for day use only).
Classification aside, a mirrored screen is the wrong tool once the light fades: dusk, tunnels, dense forest, night. Anyone using it at a track day does well to pack the clear VZ36015P for the journey back.
Keeping it serviceable
The metallic layer is the delicate part, more so than the anti-scratch treated visor beneath it. Soak dried insects with lukewarm water before wiping, and keep solvents and household window cleaner off the mirror side. A chrome finish shows streaks and fine hazing sooner than the coloured mirrors do, so dry it with a clean microfibre cloth instead of a paper towel.
How it goes on
Shark gives the RS Jet visor side locking and unlocking with anchoring at four points. Release the current screen on both sides, set the Dark Chrome one onto the same mounts and make sure it latches left and right and travels freely before you ride. If you use a Pinlock, move it across or fit VZ36005P and set it with the adjustable tension this visor provides.
Ordering by part number
