About this tint
Shark calls this finish Iridium Red. The mirror layer returns part of the light at the surface, which is what makes a mirrored visor pleasant on a bright circuit where the sun sits low over the last corner. The warm red reflection also means an onlooker sees colour, not eyes.
Red is picked to match. Shark offers the same Iridium mirror in silver, gold, blue and rainbow under this number and does not claim different light reduction for any of them, so the choice is about how the visor ties the helmet graphic, the bike and the kit together.
Road or track
The Range Book 2027 lists Iridium Red for the OXO as racing use only, page 38. Shark therefore does not release this visor for road riding.
Many track-day riders arrive on the same bike they ride on track. For the road leg, Shark approves the light tinted TE50 visor VZ39016P for daytime use; for arriving or leaving in the dark there is the clear VZ39016P, approved for all users. Swap to red once you are in the paddock and back again before you head off.
Fitting
Shark builds the OXO visor with a single central lock and a quick-release mechanism that does not need tools. Swapping visors between sessions is therefore a job for your hands, done with the helmet on your knee. If you run a Pinlock lens, it has to be the OXO part VZ39005P; it clips into the housing that Shark moulds into this visor.
Which shell do I have
Only large-shell OXO helmets take VZ39031P. For the small shell, Shark makes the identical Iridium Red as VZ39030P, SKU VZ39030PREDTU. The difference is visor size, nothing else, and a visor for one shell does not fit the other.
Our shop data does not tell us which helmet sizes Shark builds on the large shell. Larger head sizes are the typical case, but read the number off your present visor before you rely on that.
Ordering by part number
Full SKU VZ39031PREDTU, built from VZ39031P and colour code RED. EAN 3664836892665, tariff code 3926906000. If you are also buying a road visor, order VZ39016P in TE50 or clear in the same basket so both arrive together for the next event.
Care
After a day on track the visor usually carries rubber dust and insects. Soak both off with a wet cloth before wiping, rinse with lukewarm water and dry with a clean microfibre cloth. Solvents and household glass cleaner attack the mirror coating, which is more delicate than the visor it sits on.
