Everything about a Spartan's fit can be adjusted except the shell, and the adjustment is made here. This number is catalogued in five thicknesses, from 20 millimetres up to 35, which is how Shark lets a rider tighten or open the jaw area of a helmet whose head size is already correct. It is the same part the factory fits, sold one thickness at a time.

Choosing a thickness
The number stamped on your existing pad is the starting point, not the answer. A helmet loses roughly one grade of hold over its first few thousand kilometres as the foam takes a set, so a rider who started on 30 mm and now feels movement under braking is usually looking for 35. Going the other way, a pad that leaves marks on the cheekbone after an hour is a grade too thick. Change one grade at a time and ride with it before deciding.
Checking the fit
With the strap done up, the helmet should move the skin of the cheeks when you rotate it by hand, and it should not rotate independently of the head. If you can get a finger between the pad and the cheek without forcing it, the pad is too thin for a helmet that has to stay put in a crash.

The supplier names this part for the Spartan in its own article description. Note that this covers the Spartan generation, not the later Spartan RS or Spartan GT Pro, which carry their own interior numbers and a different cheek pattern. If you are unsure which generation you have, the article number moulded into the original pad is the reliable check.
