DescriptionThe whole story▼
The SC-Project CR-T is the most iconic and widely used racing slip-on silencer in the SC-Project range — a direct descendant of the exhaust technology developed for the MotoGP and Moto2 championships. For Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M riders on the RN49 platform, it delivers a genuine step up in sound, character and top-end performance without sacrificing road legality, and it bolts straight on without any ECU remapping.
Key Features
- EC and TÜV road-approved for all EURO 4 variants of the Yamaha YZF-R1/M RN49 (2017-2019) — fully street-legal from the moment you fit it
- Measured gains of +1.0 PS at 12,000 rpm and +0.9 Nm of torque at 11,900 rpm over the standard silencer
- Weight saving of 0.7 kg: SC-Project unit weighs 0.8 kg against the stock 1.5 kg item
- Titanium link pipe connects directly to the original catalytic converter — no header changes required
- CNC-machined titanium bushings and T.I.G.-welded titanium joints for precise fitment and lasting durability
- Includes a dB killer for compliant road use; remove it for the full MotoGP-inspired acoustic character on track
- Available in two finishes: Titanium (Y11B-T36TR) and Carbon (Y11B-T36CR)
Everyday Usability — the Real Reason to Choose the CR-T
Unlike purely track-oriented exhausts that demand mapping, fuel-system changes or the stress of carrying non-homologated parts on public roads, the CR-T is engineered for riders who want the best of both worlds every single day. The EURO 4-compliant homologation means insurance, MOT and roadside legality are never a concern. Fitting takes place at the slip-on joint with no specialist tools — bolt it up, reattach the link pipe to the standard cat, and ride.
The titanium link pipe is not an afterthought. It optimises exhaust gas flow between the original headers and the new canister, which is where the measured power and torque improvements originate. The CNC-machined titanium bushings ensure the silencer sits perfectly true every time, eliminating the rattles and micro-movement that can afflict lesser aftermarket fitments over time.
Build Quality and Materials
SC-Project manufactures the CR-T in Italy using the same processes that supply their MotoGP customer teams. The canister end cap is titanium, chosen for its combination of low mass, heat resistance and the characteristic blue-gold heat tint that develops with use. Heat-resistant acoustic damping inside the canister is tuned to deliver the CR-T's signature deep, raw racing note while keeping sound levels within road-legal limits when the dB killer is installed. All brackets and structural connections are T.I.G.-welded for strength and corrosion resistance. An optional titanium flame mesh end guard is available separately for riders who want an even sharper visual finish.
Fitment and Compatibility
This silencer is designed specifically for the Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M using the RN49 frame (model years 2017, 2018 and 2019). It is compatible with all EURO 4 versions of these models. The titanium link pipe included in the kit connects to the standard catalytic converter, so no additional mid-pipe or collector is needed. No ECU remapping or fuelling modification is required for road use.
