DescriptionThe whole story▼
Forged from premium aluminium by OZ's SBK Racing division, the Piega front wheel is engineered to reduce rotating mass and sharpen every input on the Ducati Panigale 1199, 1199 R and 1199 S. The result is a wheel that transforms the character of the bike — lighter, more agile, and responsive in a way that no cast replacement can match, whether you are chasing lap times or carving canyon roads.
Key Features
- Forged aluminium construction sourced from OZ's racing programme, delivering an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio that directly reduces rotating mass
- Five-spoke Piega design refined by the OZ SBK Racing department for optimised stability and precise handling at both road and track speeds
- Approved for road and track use, making it a genuine dual-purpose upgrade without compromise
- Available in three anodised finishes — gloss black, techno black and techno gold — each applied for lasting durability, not just cosmetic appeal
- Supplied complete with high-quality bearings, aluminium angled valves and spacers where required, so fitment is straightforward from the outset
- Made in Italy to OZ's exacting manufacturing standards for maximum reliability under extreme conditions
Build Quality and Materials
The Piega wheel begins as a solid forged aluminium billet, a process that aligns the grain structure of the metal and produces a wheel far stronger and more consistent than a cast equivalent of the same weight. OZ's SBK Racing engineers then machine and profile the spokes to extract every unnecessary gram without sacrificing structural integrity. The anodised finish is integral to the aluminium surface rather than a coating applied over it, which means it resists corrosion, brake dust and track grime with a tenacity that painted finishes simply cannot replicate. This is the level of manufacture you would find on a factory World Superbike machine, made available for road-registered Panigales.
Performance on Road and Track
Reducing unsprung and rotating mass at the front axle has a disproportionate effect on how a motorcycle steers. Lighter rotating inertia allows the Panigale 1199 to change direction more willingly, respond to trail-braking inputs with greater precision and feel more composed under hard acceleration out of slow corners. The Piega's five-spoke architecture also contributes to lateral stiffness, keeping the tyre contact patch stable during the transition from braking to cornering. OZ explicitly recommends the Piega series for both road and circuit use, and the included high-quality bearings ensure the wheel meets those demands from the moment it is bolted on.
