DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every Öhlins part number covers one machine. DMX 0309 covers the Husqvarna FE 250 (2024–2026). Damping that fades turns a predictable FE 250 into one that has to be ridden around.
Key Features
- 137 mm of damper stroke
- Length 457 mm, set for this chassis
- Built for the Husqvarna FE 250 (2024–2026); fits without modification
Where This Sits in the Öhlins Line-up
The DV valving separates high-speed from low-speed compression, so square-edged braking bumps and the slow squat of a corner exit can be tuned apart. Öhlins supplies a baseline setting for each part number, established on the machine it is listed against. Because both circuits stay under pressure, the damper does not cavitate when the wheel is unloaded over a jump and slammed back down on landing.
What This Means on the FE 250
The 250 cc engine sets how quickly weight transfers, and damping has to be matched to that rather than to a class average. Enduro use means long days, hot oil and terrain that changes every hundred metres. The 2024–2026 generation kept the same chassis dimensions throughout, so one Öhlins number serves the whole run.
How It Behaves on the Road
137 mm of stroke is what the FE 250's linkage allows, and the shim stack is set for exactly that. 1304 is the Öhlins oil specification for this number. Length is 457 mm and is not adjustable on this number. Adjustment is by click rather than by feel, so a setting can be written down and returned to. A single click produces a change most riders can detect, which is not true of every adjustable damper.
Materials and Manufacture
The eyelets carry spherical bearings rather than rubber bushes, so the damper is not fighting its own mounting. Every Öhlins dealer can re-valve the unit, because the shim stack is a documented, serviceable assembly. Production has stayed in Sweden since the company was founded in 1976.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins releases DMX 0309 against the Husqvarna FE 250 (2024–2026). Öhlins lists no other machine against this number, so it is not a unit that can be adapted to a neighbouring model. Öhlins notes for this application: 06310- spring series. Preload adjuster 15000-02 fits this shock. *Replaced by DMX 1309*
Road Approval
Road approval: not documented by Öhlins for the Husqvarna FE 250. We do not state an approval we cannot evidence — please confirm the current status with us before ordering if you intend to use the motorcycle on public roads.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins components deliver what they promise once they are fitted and set up properly. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do exactly that in house — installation, service and setup. Simply ask if you would like us to take care of it.
