DescriptionThe whole story▼
Part number DMX 1214 covers the GasGas MC 300 in its 2025 form. What a rider feels as a lack of rear grip is usually a damper that has stopped keeping up.
Key Features
- Built to 457 mm installed length
- Built for the GasGas MC 300 (2025); fits without modification
- Stroke: 137 mm
How Öhlins Builds It
Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain. Materials read unremarkably on paper — aluminium, steel, nitrogen — and the difference lies in how precisely they are made. Anodising is hard-coat rather than decorative, which matters on a component exposed to road salt and stone chips.
The MC 300 in Particular
The 300 cc engine sets how quickly weight transfers, and damping has to be matched to that rather than to a class average. A motocross track punishes suspension in a way nothing else does: repeated identical hits at the same speed, lap after lap.
How It Behaves on the Road
The damper moves 137 mm from full extension to full compression. The unit measures 457 mm installed, which is the dimension the MC 300's linkage expects. The recommended oil is 1304; using something else changes the damping the shim stack was set for. Preload is set separately again, and preload is what determines static sag rather than damping. The adjuster range is usable end to end rather than only around the middle.
About the TTX Flow DV Range
Compression and rebound run as separate, permanently pressurised circuits — the twin-tube principle — so neither can starve the other on a fast series of hits. Öhlins builds the TTX Flow with a 46 mm piston and an external reservoir sized for the oil volume a moto actually needs. TTX Flow is the damper Öhlins developed after a decade of racing the earlier TTX in motocross, and the DV in the name stands for the dual-valve arrangement that gives it its character.
Fitment and Compatibility
Part number DMX 1214 and the GasGas MC 300 (2025) belong together; other model years take other numbers. Öhlins lists no other machine against this number, so it is not a unit that can be adapted to a neighbouring model. Öhlins notes for this application: 06310- series spring. Preload adjuster 15000-02 fits this shock. *Replaces DMX 0214*
