Where It Sits
Öhlins publishes 54.2 mm, 62.8 mm, 1.2 mm for 05216-02 — the dimensions are the identity of the part. Guide bushings set the internal alignment of a cartridge. A worn bushing lets the shaft move off centre, and the seal is the next thing to fail. Bushings carry the side load in a damper or fork and keep the moving parts concentric.
Genuine Service Part
A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. Öhlins numbers every position so a workshop can order precisely what it needs, not a whole assembly. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue.
Getting the Number Right
05216-02 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. Check inner diameter 54.2 mm, outer diameter 62.8 mm, length 1.2 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Both diameters and the length are specification, not approximation. Guides and sleeves set the internal alignment of a cartridge.
Fitting and Setup Service
Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.
