DescriptionThe whole story▼
Spacer, ball joint 12x22 al, Öhlins part number 01218-03. Öhlins gives every washer and spacer its own part number because its length or thickness is part of the internal geometry.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 01218-03
- Original Öhlins service part
Function
This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Fasteners in a damper see pressure, heat and vibration at once, which is why the grade matters. Thread size and length identify the fastener; substituting a hardware-store equivalent is not sensible in a pressurised damper. Circlips are single-use in practice: once sprung, they no longer hold their groove reliably.
Why the Original
Öhlins numbers every position so a workshop can order precisely what it needs, not a whole assembly. Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.
How to Be Sure It Fits
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 01218-03 in this case. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Öhlins publishes them in the exploded view so a workshop can order the whole position at once. Small parts are what hold a rebuild together — the wrong circlip or washer is enough to fail the job.
Fitting and Setup Service
Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.
