Where It Sits
Öhlins gives it as 25 mm, 31.5 mm, 2 mm; nothing about that is approximate. Öhlins publishes them in the exploded view so a workshop can order the whole position at once. Spacers are machined rather than cut, so the ends are square and the load is even. A spacer that is a millimetre short changes the preload on a shim stack, and with it the damping.
Original Öhlins Part
A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.
Identifying the Right Part
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 15495-02. Check dimension a 25 mm, dimension b 31.5 mm, dimension c 2 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Thread size and length identify the fastener; substituting a hardware-store equivalent is not sensible in a pressurised damper. Its length is a specification, not a filler — a millimetre changes what the unit does.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
