What It Is
Öhlins gives it as 14 mm, 28 mm, 12 mm; nothing about that is approximate. Spacers set the internal geometry of the unit, which means their length is a specification and not a filler. Öhlins publishes them in the exploded view so a workshop can order the whole position at once. Spacers are machined rather than cut, so the ends are square and the load is even.
Original Öhlins Part
Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it.
How to Be Sure It Fits
Öhlins identifies this position by the number 00838-01 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. dimension a 14 mm, dimension b 28 mm, dimension c 12 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Stainless where corrosion matters, hardened where load matters — the choice is made per position. Substituting a spacer changes the internal geometry, not just the fit.
Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
