Where It Sits
21751-01 is the 12 mm, 22 mm, 10 mm version — Öhlins lists each size separately. Guide bushings set the internal alignment of a cartridge. Öhlins uses low-friction coated bushings so the unit breaks away smoothly rather than sticking. A bushing is a consumable and is replaced at rebuild rather than reused.
Genuine Service Part
Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure: a wrong part in a pressurised unit is an expensive lesson.
How to Be Sure It Fits
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 21751-01 in this case. inner diameter 12 mm, outer diameter 22 mm, length 10 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Sleeves position parts axially and often set the preload on a stack. Öhlins uses PTFE-coated bushings for a low breakaway force.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
