Why the Rate Holds
The unit is rebuildable: seals, shims and oil are catalogue items, not a reason to buy a new one. Öhlins machines its own critical components instead of buying them in, and the tolerances are where the money goes. The finish is applied after setting, which means the coating does not affect the rate.

Fitting
Öhlins part numbers are stamped on the packaging rather than the spring, so keep the label with the setup notes. The fork legs come off, the springs are swapped and the oil level is reset — half a day in most workshops. Fitting is a fork-oil job: the legs come apart, the springs go in, the oil level is set to specification.
Road Approval
Road approval: not applicable to the spring on its own. Öhlins issues approvals against complete suspension units, not individual springs.
