DescriptionThe whole story▼
Shims 8/triangle/0.25 ,2.4x6 hole, Öhlins part number 00187-50. Öhlins grinds shims to a flatness tolerance because the faces have to seal against each other.
Key Features
- Original Öhlins service part
- Öhlins part number 00187-50
What It Is
This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Face flatness matters as much as thickness — a shim that does not seal against its neighbour leaks damping. Revalving means changing the stack, not the piston — that is why shims are sold singly. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different curves.
Why the Original
This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.
Getting the Number Right
Order under 00187-50. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Shim thickness is measured in hundredths of a millimetre because that is the resolution at which damping force changes. A shim is a thin, ground steel washer, and the stack of them is what generates damping.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
