Function
Öhlins publishes 6 mm, 11 mm, 0.30 mm for 01430-11 — the dimensions are the identity of the part. A shim is a thin, ground steel washer, and the stack of them is what generates damping. Shims are reused only if they are undamaged and flat; a coned shim is finished. Changing one shim in a stack alters the damping curve measurably; that is why Öhlins sells them individually rather than only as sets.
Original Öhlins Part
This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you.
How to Be Sure It Fits
01430-11 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. inner diameter 6 mm, outer diameter 11 mm, thickness 0.30 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different damping. A worn or bent shim shows up as damping that has quietly drifted from the setting sheet.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
