Where It Sits
The published figures are 12 mm, 31 mm, 0.15 mm. Measure the old part against them before ordering. Öhlins holds thickness to hundredths of a millimetre because that is the resolution damping changes at. Shims are reused only if they are undamaged and flat; a coned shim is finished. A shim is a thin, ground steel washer, and the stack of them is what generates damping.
Why the Original
The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise.
Getting the Number Right
Öhlins identifies this position by the number 01115-31 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Öhlins states inner diameter 12 mm, outer diameter 31 mm, thickness 0.15 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. A shim is a thin, ground steel washer, and the stack of them is what generates damping. Revalving means changing the stack, which is why Öhlins sells shims individually.
Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
