- Outer Diameter 25 mm
Where It Sits
Öhlins gives it as 12 mm, 25 mm, 0.25 mm; nothing about that is approximate. Öhlins stamps and grinds its shims to tolerances a general-purpose washer never holds. Revalving means changing the stack, which is why Öhlins sells shims individually. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different damping.
Genuine Service Part
The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it.
Getting the Number Right
00525-25 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. inner diameter 12 mm, outer diameter 25 mm, thickness 0.25 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different curves. Shim thickness is measured in hundredths of a millimetre because that is the resolution at which damping force changes.
