What It Is
00114-03 is the 12 mm, 30 mm, 28 mm version — Öhlins lists each size separately. Dust seals keep grit off the running surface; once they are torn, the oil seal behind them has a short life. A weeping damper almost always starts here. Replacing the head as a unit is usually faster and more reliable than fitting the seals individually.
Original Öhlins Part
Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.
Identifying the Right Part
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 00114-03. inner diameter 12 mm, outer diameter 30 mm, thickness 28 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Öhlins recommends replacing seals whenever the unit is opened, not only when it leaks. Seals are the part of a damper that decides whether it holds its gas charge and its oil, and they are the usual reason a unit ends up on the bench.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
