DescriptionThe whole story▼
Öhlins builds FFX 2304 for the KTM 500EXC-F and lists it for model years 2024–2026. Standard forks are packaged and costed first, then damped with whatever room is left.
Key Features
- Spring rate 4,3 N/mm, set against this machine's weight
- Fitted spring: Öhlins 08765-43
- Stroke: 298 mm
- Built for the KTM 500EXC-F (2024–2026); fits without modification
Construction and Material Quality
Seals are specified for temperature stability rather than for the lowest unit cost. Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain. The two legs are built as a matched pair and tested as one assembly.
How the Fork Works
Rate as supplied is 4,3 N/mm, matched by Öhlins to this machine rather than to the platform. Öhlins specifies 1330 for this application, and the damping curve assumes that oil. Stroke is 298 mm, which is the travel Öhlins has to work with on this linkage. Spring 08765-43 is what ships with the damper; harder and softer rates are available. Each function has its own adjuster, which is what allows one change to be judged honestly. Preload is adjusted separately from damping, and the two should not be confused.
Fitted to the 500EXC-F
The 2024–2026 generation kept the same chassis dimensions throughout, so one Öhlins number serves the whole run.
The RXF 48 S in Detail
The RXF 48 is Öhlins' motocross and enduro fork, and the S version adds the spring conversion — a coil spring in place of the air system many current forks use. For a rider who wants the fork to feel the same on the last lap as on the first, that is the whole argument. The coil holds its rate as the fork heats and needs no pressure check between motos.
Fitment and Compatibility
What follows applies to the KTM 500EXC-F built 2024–2026, which is the machine FFX 2304 is listed for. 22 machines in the range take this number, the KTM 500EXC-F among them. Öhlins notes for this application: 02428 - spring series *Replaces FFX 1304*
Road Approval
