DescriptionThe whole story▼
Fitted to the GasGas EC 450F (2024–2025), the Öhlins FFX 2304 replaces the standard unit outright. The front end is where a rider's confidence is won or lost on the EC 450F.
Key Features
- Listed by Öhlins for the GasGas EC 450F (2024–2025) and no other machine
- Spring part number 08765-43 fitted
- Delivered with a 4,3 N/mm spring, selected for the EC 450F
- Damper stroke 298 mm
How the Fork Works
With 298 mm of stroke the damping curve has to do its work in a short distance. The recommended oil is 1330; using something else changes the damping the shim stack was set for. Öhlins fits a 4,3 N/mm spring to this number; riders far from average weight should expect to change it. Öhlins supplies spring 08765-43 with this unit. The range is wide enough that both ends of it are usable rather than theoretical. Each function has its own adjuster, which is what allows one change to be judged honestly.
Construction and Material Quality
The unit is rebuildable: seals, shims and oil are catalogue items, not a reason to buy a new one. Service parts stay available for years after a part number leaves the current price list. Öhlins applies a low-friction coating to the sliding surfaces on most fork numbers, which reduces stiction.
Where This Sits in the Öhlins Line-up
Air forks need a pressure check before every ride, and the RXF 48 S removes that step entirely. The S in RXF 48 S stands for the spring conversion: a coil spring replaces the air chamber the standard fork uses. Öhlins supplies the RXF 48 S with springs matched to the machine, and alternative rates are catalogue items.
Why This Machine Needs It
Enduro machines spend hours at low speed over roots and rock before the first fast section arrives, and the suspension has to be plush there without collapsing later.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins part number FFX 2304 is the correct number for the GasGas EC 450F as built 2024–2025. Öhlins releases the same number for 22 closely related machines; this listing is the GasGas EC 450F version of that fitment. Öhlins notes for this application: 08765- spring series *Replaces FFX 0301*
