DescriptionThe whole story▼
The GasGas EC 300 in its 2021–2023 form takes Öhlins part number FFX 1301. Front-end feel is a damping problem before it is a geometry problem.
Key Features

- 293 mm working stroke
- Listed by Öhlins for the GasGas EC 300 (2021–2023) and no other machine
- Delivered with a 4,3 N/mm spring, selected for the EC 300
About the RXF 48 S Range
A coil spring holds its rate as the fork heats; an air spring does not, and that is the central argument for the conversion. The S in RXF 48 S stands for the spring conversion: a coil spring replaces the air chamber the standard fork uses. Riders coming from an air fork usually report that the biggest change is consistency rather than outright plushness.
Damping and Adjustment
Spring part number 02428-43 is a separate catalogue item, so a rate change is inexpensive. Eye-to-eye length is 935 mm, fixed for this application. Stroke is 293 mm, which is the travel Öhlins has to work with on this linkage. The recommended oil is 1330; using something else changes the damping the shim stack was set for. Compression and rebound adjusters sit at the fork tops and work independently. Each function has its own adjuster, which is what allows one change to be judged honestly.
Construction and Material Quality
Service parts stay available for years after a part number leaves the current price list. Two units carrying the same part number behave the same way out of the box, which is the whole point of testing each one. Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against.
The EC 300 in Particular
This part number spans model years 2021 to 2023; earlier and later generations take different numbers. A 300 cc machine of this type sits in a specific weight band, and Öhlins picks the spring rate for that band rather than for the platform. An enduro bike is ridden slowly far more often than quickly, and the damping that matters most is the damping at low shaft speed.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins part number FFX 1301 is the correct number for the GasGas EC 300 as built 2021–2023. Öhlins releases the same number for 27 closely related machines; this listing is the GasGas EC 300 version of that fitment. Öhlins notes for this application: 08765- spring series *Replaces FFX 0301*
