Function
At 30 mm, 34 mm, 0.30 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Shims are reused only if they are undamaged and flat; a coned shim is finished. Öhlins grinds shims to a flatness tolerance because the faces have to seal against each other. A coned or marked shim is finished — it no longer seals against its neighbour.
Why the Original
The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute. If you are unsure which number your unit takes, send us the model and serial number of the damper and we will look it up.
Getting the Number Right
01130-01 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. The published dimensions are inner diameter 30 mm, outer diameter 34 mm, thickness 0.30 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Öhlins holds thickness to hundredths of a millimetre because that is the resolution damping changes at. A shim is a thin, ground steel washer, and the stack of them is what generates damping.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
