DescriptionThe whole story▼
Needle fork SD1003/2003, Öhlins part number 02218-01. Öhlins specifies a defined number of clicks per adjuster so a setting is a number, not an impression.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 02218-01
- Dimension B 2003 mm
- Dimension A 1003 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
What It Is
The published figures are 1003 mm, 2003 mm. Measure the old part against them before ordering. Compression and rebound adjusters are not interchangeable even when they look similar. Adjuster housings carry seals, and a leak there empties the damper as surely as a shaft seal. The needle tip is the wear part: once rounded, the first few clicks stop doing anything.
Genuine Service Part
Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. If you are unsure which number your unit takes, send us the model and serial number of the damper and we will look it up.
How to Be Sure It Fits
02218-01 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. Öhlins states dimension a 1003 mm, dimension b 2003 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed units and are replaced rather than opened. The needle tip is the wear part: once rounded, the first few clicks stop doing anything.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting service parts means opening a pressurised unit. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do that here, with the right tools and a dyno check afterwards — just ask.
