What It Is
At 25.3 mm, 44.2 mm, 155 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Inner and outer diameter both matter; a bushing that is a little loose does more damage than none at all. A worn bushing lets the shaft move off centre, and the seal is the next thing to fail. Öhlins uses low-friction coated bushings so the unit breaks away smoothly rather than sticking.
Original Öhlins Part
Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.
Getting the Number Right
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 21917-03 in this case. inner diameter 25.3 mm, outer diameter 44.2 mm, length 155 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Play at a bushing lets the shaft run off centre and the seal wears unevenly. Bushings carry the side load in a damper or fork and keep the moving parts concentric.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
