Why the Rate Holds
Öhlins machines its own critical components instead of buying them in, and the tolerances are where the money goes. Every unit is dyno-tested against the curve held for its part number, not sampled from a batch. The finish is applied after setting, which means the coating does not affect the rate.

Where This Rate Belongs
The trade is fork dive under braking — noticeable, but rarely the limiting factor on the road. On a machine ridden solo and mostly on the road, softer is often the honest choice. Lighter riders usually end up a step or two below the factory rate once sag is measured properly. A road machine spends most of its life in the first third of the fork's travel — that is the part the rate governs.

Installation
Fitting is a fork-oil job: the legs come apart, the springs go in, the oil level is set to specification. Preload spacers usually need shortening or lengthening so the installed length stays correct. Springs are supplied ready to fit; no cutting, grinding or packing is needed.
Road Approval
Road approval: springs are not separately type-approved in Germany because they substitute a part that is already homologated with the fork. Model-specific documents, where they exist, are named above.
