DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Öhlins FKR Cartridge Kit Racing (TTX 25) FKR 118 is a thoroughbred track tool built on decades of Öhlins championship pedigree, bringing the brand's celebrated TTX technology directly into the fork legs of your Suzuki GSX-R 1000. Where conventional gas-pressure cartridge systems compromise consistency under sustained track use, the FKR design holds its damping character lap after lap — a distinction that matters when every tenth counts.
Key Features
- TTX (Twin Tube X-over) technology delivers linear, consistent damping that outperforms traditional gas-pressure systems in both predictability and sustained performance.
- Reduced internal pressure combined with a new 8 mm piston rod produces a faster, more sensitive initial response — the front end reacts to surface changes before they unsettle the chassis.
- Linear damping characteristic enables precise, repeatable setup changes, so adjustments made in the garage translate directly to measurable improvements on track.
- Simplified service architecture compared to conventional high-pressure cartridges means less downtime between race weekends.
- Compatible spring series 04744 supplied in three rates — 9.5, 10.0 and 10.5 N/mm — to suit a range of rider weights and circuit demands.
- 125 mm stroke optimised for the GSX-R 1000 fork geometry, preserving factory handling balance while transforming dynamic capability.
Design, Finish and Heritage
Öhlins has supplied front-end suspension components to world championship teams across MotoGP, World Superbike and Endurance racing for more than four decades. The FKR cartridge kit carries that lineage in every machined surface: the architecture is derived directly from homologation-class race hardware, refined for the serious club and track-day racer who demands the same engineering without compromise. The TTX platform itself represents one of the most significant advances in motorcycle fork damping of the past twenty years — its twin-tube cross-over layout was developed specifically to eliminate the performance inconsistency inherent in single-tube gas cartridges when oil temperature rises.
Performance on Track
Fitting the FKR 118 transforms the GSX-R 1000's front-end feel from capable to surgical. The faster damper response sharpens turn-in response and improves feedback under trail braking, where the factory unit can feel vague as the fork compresses rapidly. Traction off the apex improves because the linear damping characteristic prevents the abrupt mid-stroke stiffening that upsets rear grip on corner exit. The three included spring rates allow the setup to be dialled to the rider rather than compromised around a single rate.
Fitment and Compatibility
This kit is designed and validated exclusively for the following application:
- Suzuki GSX-R 1000 — model years 2012 to 2023
Professional installation by an authorised Öhlins Service Centre is strongly recommended. This product is intended for closed-circuit racing use only. It does not hold type approval (StVZO) and must not be used on public roads.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins suspension rewards careful fitting. We recommend having the work done by an authorised Öhlins service centre — and we are one ourselves: we fit, service and set up Öhlins components in house. If you would like us to handle the installation, just ask and we will quote it with the order.
