DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha MT-10 of 2016–2024 has its own Öhlins part number, and this is it: FGR 252. Front-end feel is a damping problem before it is a geometry problem.
Key Features
- Fitted spring: Öhlins 04744-10
- Twin-tube TTX damper layout
- Bolts to the Yamaha MT-10 (2016–2024) using the standard mounting points
- 120 mm of damper stroke
- Delivered with a 10,0 N/mm spring, selected for the MT-10
Setting It Up for the MT-10
Naked machines put the rider upright and forward, which loads the front end differently from a sportbike. This part number spans model years 2016 to 2024; earlier and later generations take different numbers.
Damping and Adjustment
Installed length comes to 745 mm. 120 mm of stroke is what the MT-10's linkage allows, and the shim stack is set for exactly that. Rate as supplied is 10,0 N/mm, matched by Öhlins to this machine rather than to the platform. Spring 04744-10 is what ships with the damper; harder and softer rates are available. Compression and rebound adjusters sit at the fork tops and work independently. The range is wide enough that both ends of it are usable rather than theoretical.
How Öhlins Builds It
Öhlins manufactures in Upplands Väsby, north of Stockholm, and assembles and tests every unit there before it ships. Anodising is hard-coat rather than decorative, which matters on a component exposed to road salt and stone chips. The Öhlins part number is stamped on the unit, so its specification can be looked up years later.
Where This Sits in the Öhlins Line-up
Service intervals are short by road standards because the internals are built for competition use. Öhlins builds it for closed-course use, with the adjustment range and the servicing intervals that implies. Fitting the correct rate changes ride height, static sag and how much of the fork's travel is actually usable.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins releases FGR 252 against the Yamaha MT-10 (2016–2024). Because the settings are model-specific, fitting it to a related machine would mean running the wrong specification.
Road Approval
Road approval: Öhlins publishes no approval status for this combination. Rather than guess, we say so — ask us before ordering if road use matters to you.
