DescriptionThe whole story▼
Circlip 20.5/1.0, Öhlins part number 00557-03. Groove width decides the thickness — the next size does not hold.
Key Features
- Dimension A 20.5 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
- Dimension B 1.0 mm
- Öhlins part number 00557-03
What It Is
Dimensionally this is 20.5 mm, 1.0 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. A spacer that is a millimetre short changes the preload on a shim stack, and with it the damping. Groove width decides the thickness — the next size does not hold. Sealing washers are consumables — they take their shape on first assembly and do not seal twice.
Genuine Service Part
Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.
Getting the Number Right
Order under 00557-03. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Check dimension a 20.5 mm, dimension b 1.0 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Ordering the small parts with the seal kit saves the second delivery that most rebuilds otherwise need. Öhlins publishes them in the exploded view so a workshop can order the whole position at once.
Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
